eThe other night I was talking to a friend of mine and she happened to read out something which stuck with me. It was a simple poem which made a lot of sense. It’s titled “Inspiration”. As per the dictionary….Inspiration is an agency, such as a person or work of art etc., that moves the intellect or emotions or prompts action or invention. I specially like the last part of this definition.
But here’s a question….How do you get inspired?? Here’s the poem:
INSPIRATION
Bruce-with eyes growing wider
Watched d persevering spider
Then rose,
And swiped the invading army on the nose.
Newton-sitting on a rugged wall
watched an autumn apple fall
And found
That gravity to the ground.
Watt-observing someone's kettle
Boiling near the chimney settle
Designed-
A patent engine that amazed mankind.
Me-! I have looked at spiders toiling,
Apples falling, kettles boiling
My hat!
If I could only think of things like that.
Read the last part again….I just love it!
Was it the spider who inspired Bruce?? Was it the apple which inspired Newton?? Was it the Kettle that inspired Watt??? I think not……here’s Calvin putting things to perspective.
He does put things into perspective in the subtlest of ways? Doesn't he???

Do we have to get inspired? Do we have to come up with steam engines or theories of gravity? Do we have to seek greatness?
Whatever happened to mediocrity?
